I’m so sick of cold weather. It’s freaking April already. This shit needs to stop. I suppose it could be worse; there could be snow…
I get to take both Sammy and Makalu to the vet today. That car ride should be fun…since they love each other so much.
My damn computer crashed today and it took seriously like 20 minutes for me to get it started back up, and everything in order like I had it. Ah speaking of everything in order…there is nifty little program that I like to use to help me organize all the windows I use. It’s called Taskbar Shuffle, and it is free! Go ahead and download it. It really kinda makes you wonder why that functionality isn’t already included in Windows…
So I get my big work bonus this week. I’d be more excited about it…if I didn’t know that I’ve already spent it in one way or another…Or at least a lot of it, the rest I figure I will try to save until our big San Francisco trip in June. But ya know I do have a weakness for the Gap and Banana Republic…so I might have to buy myself a few things. Damn Luxe Card…it sucks me in with all it’s free shipping and rewards.

I woke up early this morning for no reason really. Maybe I’ve just slept too much this week from being sick. I’ve also been on this strange cleaning kick. Like I’ve actually wanted to clean. I must be sick. I guess people get in moods like that, when they are just sick of all the junk around them. I used to. I think I just got burnt out really fast after the move into the house. Tons of things are left unfinished, and there are still boxes unpacked.
Lately I’ve had this desire to look different, to change my appearance. I asked a friend - given, that was a straight guy friend - if he ever felt like that, and he looked at me like I was crazy. So I’ve grown a beard and let my hair grow out…and I’ve lost almost 10 pounds all in the last couple of months. You’d think that’d quench my feelings…but in reality I just have a sweaty upper lip, more opportunity for bad hair days, and I’m stuck somewhere in between the skinny and fat jeans. So maybe it wasn’t what I envisioned.
Sometimes I hate how intrusive computer programs can be. Right now I’m being barked at to install a new version of Java, and an update for ZoneAlarm. Not in the mood.
So went to a party at a friends house last weekend. I don’t think I mentioned. It was a game night which I’ve always wanted to do, but Mike was never into that idea. But anyhow, it was a little overwhelming because I met tons of new people. All area gay men. Kinda strange that I’ve lived in Findlay most of my life, and never really knew many other gay people. And the ones I did know, I unfortunately dated, or they moved away, or both - hopefully they didn’t move away just because we dated. Side note-I was always attracted to that artsy loser type. But anyhow I had a really good time at the party. Like I’ve been saying, I need to get out more.

You know what annoys me about Microsoft Outlook. If you click reply (or forward) to an email and begin a message in the reply, the original message says “You replied to this message” even if you cancelled out of it, and didn’t send it. I do that all the time, and sometimes I can’t remember if I actually sent one or not and I have to go hunt through my sent items. I don’t know if this is fixed in Outlook 2007…does anyone know? It is really annoying…

I’m so freakin tired. I’ve been painting all day yesterday and today…and I dunno…maybe since I suck at it and don’t exercise regularly…I now feel like I’m dying. We’ve lived here for over 2 weeks now, and it is still a complete mess. I think I’ve finally accepted it though. I was so stressed out and anxious and whiny and bitchy because I just wanted everything done. Mike keeps trying to remind me that we have a long time to get the stuff done. So I’m better…but I still wish I could find the tweezers….and everything else for that matter.
I’ve been using Ubuntu for about a week and I love it! I have it all fancied up now with Beryl themes. It’s fun…I really like the wobbly window and max/minimize effects. It doesn’t take a lot to be better than Windows XP I guess.
Anthony mentioned in a comment the other day that he wasn’t able to get some videos to play like at BBC and CNN. I’ve found that he is right. Some sites require you to have a different variety of media players like Windows Media, Real Player, and Quicktime. I have a Quicktime alternative, and I’ve installed codecs to be able to view wmv files…but the web is a different story. Ah well. I’ll let you know if I figure out any workarounds, Anthony…cause Ubuntu is just fun.
Well back to painting. I’ll post some more diy pics in a bit.

I’ve been trying out Ubuntu Linux on my desktop and I have to say that their tagline is very true. It just works! I was so pleasantly surprised at the ease of installing it, and the lack of any configuration tasks to get everything working. It’s been fun so far. I’ll let ya know if I run into any snags. But so far, it’s been faster and more stable than Windows, which makes me very happy.
