choke on that causality

Now with paradox correcting time codes.

How much time do you think you waste in a day just staring at that damn hourglass cursor? It just mocks you.

So Seattle was good. The weather was nice and the city was really pretty with all the hills and water and what not. Lots of lesbians live there. No big deal…just something I noticed. I’ll post pictures later today hopefully. Pictures of Seattle, not the lesbians ;-)

Gian and Anthony’s house was super cute. I hope we can get our house in order before anyone wants to come visit..

We have a ton of junk but I still don’t think we’ll be able to fill up the house. There is a dining room. What the hell are we gonna use that for? Dining….ha. That’s what the couch in front of the tv is for. We have one little table that we have in our kitchen right now. That little two seater would look pretty stupid in the middle of the dining room. hehe. Maybe it’ll be the office, and we’ll just have an extra guest room. That’d be nice. I guess we’ll figure it out.

I’ve been annoyed with Mike lately… pretty unnecessarily. He’s taking it pretty well though. I just feel like I’ve been obsessed with the house, and I’m cranky that he’s not as obsessed and crazy about it as I am. Like I’ve been packing and thinking about all the stuff we’ll need, and I get all enthused about it….and he doesn’t really have any comments on anything. I think he’s just recovering from working and finals. He’ll get excited in the coming days.

I hate hate hate it when programs you install decide to change the default application association with your different file extensions…like .wmv for instance. Why the hell would I want to open that in Nero?! I didn’t even know Nero had a video player.

Does anyone use Real Player anymore? I really hope you don’t. If you absolutely have to view a real encoded media file, I’d suggest you use Real Alternative. Also check out QuickTime Alternative. Use them. You’ll thank me. But anyhow… Real and QuickTime are some of the worst offenders when it comes to this file association crime.

It’s pretty easy to fix, but I still find it very annoying. Just open up Windows Explorer (Or just double click on My Computer).

Tools
Folder Options
File Types Tab
Find the file extension you want to change
Click the Change… Button
(This is where it gets tricky sometimes… usually the program you want will be in the easily available list, otherwise you’ll have to hunt for the .exe which will be buried away in your Program Files folder.)
OK

Be careful though when you open programs because sometimes you might miss a message that says “Would you like to make blah the default blah application for your computer. Just say NO. Although I know I have that habit of just clicking through stuff that looks like warnings. Good luck.

I don’t remember how we go on the subject, but this morning, I was telling Mike that my grandma always keeps tissues in her sleeve. Is that an old lady sort of thing? I’m not sure.

I accidentally spilled coffee all over my keyboard at work, and now my 1 key sticks. So if I do the hackeresque !!!!!!!111111, it’s really not a quip…my keyboard is actually fucked up. I’m too embarrassed to ask for a new one. I’ll just have to live with it.

This morning a survey was sent out at work, that I just felt didn’t make any sense. Maybe it’s the time I spent working for a corporate research company, or maybe I’m just anal, but I always seem to be able to see ambiguity and/or confusion in survey questions. Like there were a bunch of questions that had a subject and asked you to rate whether it was a significant factor on a scale of 1 to 5 with 1 being the least significant, and 5 being the most significant. You just have to sit back and ask yourself though…a significant factor for what?

So I’m really sick of paying for bedding. With a rat, 2 pigs, and a hamster, I really don’t have many options. I like to use Carefresh. It’s probably the safest for all my animals. Unfortunately it is also quite expensive. About 20 bucks for a 50 L bag. Yesterday, I was on a mission to find it cheaper in bulk online. I finally found it for a sale price of $14 at Petco. Also they gave a free 23L bag with each 50L bag purchased. So lets do the math.

Pet Store 300L Carefresh
6 x $20 + tax = $127
Online 300L Carefresh
4 * $14
w/ free ship
- $10 Google checkout coupon
+ tax
= $49

Total Savings: $78!!!111 ;-)

Well, Stoy is pretty boring. I’m not doing a whole lot. The guy I’m with does this training visits all the time, so he does most of the work, and I just chime in when I have something to add, or help if someone has a questions.

Typical questions are like

How do I create a signature to use in Microsoft Outlook?
How do I share my local printer?
How do I defragment my hard drive?
How do I set up an email distribution list?

Stuff like that. So it isn’t too difficult. The hotel is pretty boring. I just stayed in my room all night. Played on the internet…and went to bed early. At least there is free high speed internet. I’m sick of having to pay like $9.99 a night or whatever. The free breakfast was great…sarcasm. Cereal, muffins, and bagels, and some watered down coffee. I’ve been drinking coffee like crazy lately. I will drink it all day long now. I crave it in the evenings now too. Maybe I have Epstein Barr or chronic fatigue…or maybe I’m just lazy. I have no idea if that is how that is how you spell Epsteanbar. I don’t really care either. So there..ha!

Anyhow. I have nothing better to do right now except blog about nothing. I heard that it is official and Anna Nicole died of a drug overdose. Did anyone ever doubt that? I’m still actually interested in finding out who the baby’s daddy is. I know I shouldn’t care. Wouldn’t it be crazy if it turns out that the father was her son Daniel…ha ha….wouldn’t that be a crazy soap opera twist.

The computers we have at work have a specific hotkey combo that will rotate the orientation of the monitor. Not many people know about it, but Ctrl+Alt+Down Arrow will flip the screen upside down. Wouldn’t that be a great prank to play on people? I think so. I’ll let ya know if I try it out.

It’s funny because I hear people say…I don’t know what I put in a blog. I woke up. Ate some cereal. Went to work. It sucked…hehe

But seriously I sometimes sit here and start typing and have no idea what is going to happen. I always figure out something to blog about.

For instance, today, I was at this Department Presentation thing…and my mind kept wandering, thinking about other things like…that muffin was good…or I wonder my kitty is doing…and I was finally like…Seriously, I must pay attention. So then I couldn’t help but be absorbed with how many times the speaker said “uh” or “um”. Do it sometimes it’s pretty weird. It didn’t take long for me to completely block out all else for like ever after that…or at least until I moved along to the thought of having to pee, and when the hell was this going to end.

Uh…my laptop power adapter completely stopped working today. I knew it was gonna die sooner or later, and I just kept putting it off cause dealing with Dell Tech Support did not sound like fun. Um…Like the power would just stop working randomly, but if I unplugged it, rotated it, and plugged it in the other way, then it would come back on…Well today it finally gave up altogether. So I brought it to work to verify that it was just the ac adapter. I plugged it into another one and it worked just fine. So I …uh…went to Dell’s website, and I actually found it quite easy to use their support system. I typed in my Service Tag, and searched for the word “POWER” in their online help. My issue was the third hit. From there I answered some simple questions, and then submitted a service request. I got an email within 10 minutes saying that they would send me a new power adapter and I’d have it within 1 to 2 business days. Yay for warranties!
