choke on that causality

Now with paradox correcting time codes.

Last night I laid down for what I thought was going to be a disco nap, but it turned into an all-nighter. I must have been really tired.

I guess not much has been going on in my world lately. I moved to a cubicle next to a window recently at work. I feel special. Oh and I got an award for doing a good job externalizing an application server. A $50 gas card. I thought that was cool.

Sammy and KC are as annoying as ever. Love em to death…but it is getting harder and harder to walk them. I bought a new leash that has a rubber grip on it, so my hand no longer gets burned…but it is still a huge workout to walk them. I’m thinking about taking them both to obedience classes. Sammy is on some medication now to get rid of his parasites. Hopefully he’ll get a clean test here in another couple of weeks. If he stops eating dirt and licking water off the deck that is…

I’m trying to patch up some missing grass areas outside. But now I have a feeling that wherever Sammy has chosen to pee now will be the new bare spots.

Fixin the Grass

This month I got a ginormous cable bill. What the hell, right. I know I paid it last month. Well it turns out I paid the bill..but to the wrong account through my bank’s bill paying system. Woops. I had to call and sound all stupid…Uh yeah I accidentally paid you for an account I closed 2 months ago. Now I have to wait for them to send me a refund check. Wonderful.

Mike and I actually unpacked a couple of boxes last night! Well I’m not sure if it counts since we pretty much just put stuff in a different box. But at least we sorted through the stuff and decided what can stay in storage and what we will eventually want to put somewhere…we just don’t know where yet. So it’s an accomplishment after all.

I also finally finished painting the shelfs and cabinets in the bathroom. It took forever, but I wanted them just right. Hopefully I can post some pics of the finished bathroom soon. I think it turned out pretty good. Blue/Khaki/Brown kinda theme.

Yesterday I somehow overslept and was like 2 hours late for work. woops. No one noticed, but I swear to chebus I will never let that happen again. Today I had two alarms going off, and I got up right away at 6am. Ok maybe I hit the snooze once….

So I really would like to take a vacation. But it will be pretty damn near impossible, since Mike and I will never be able to get coinciding time off, especially with his school starting back up next week. And flights are crazy expensive over the holiday time. I don’t know how we were able to swing Vegas over Thanksgiving last year. At least that was before we had Makalu and KC, but we still had to haul all the other pets to Mike’s parents in the Cleveland area. I cannot imagine loading up all of the pets now and expecting Mike’s parents to take care of all of them! It’s sad to say…but I really don’t trust anyone to take care of our pets except Mike’s parents. One time I asked my mom to feed our fish while were gone, and she just didn’t do it. And then when I asked her why she didn’t come over, she was all like…how did you know?. Uh because I taped a big note over the aquarium lid and set the food up there that you would have had to move to feed them….and it was still in the same place. Geez. You don’t have to be Sherlock Holmes. So yeah. Wouldn’t trust my parents with the pets.

I haven’t been up to much of anything lately, besides reading Harry Potter, and trying to finish up some random projects around the house….of course it is those unnecessary projects like painting endtables and cabinets…when I should probably be painting the bathroom. It has just sat there with a prime coat on it for weeks…Or how about the mountain of unpacked crap in the guest bedroom. Ugh. I get overwhelmed every time I think about it.

Today I went to the eye doctor. Ya know every single time I go I forget to bring sunglasses with me. So I got my eyes dilated, and then they gave me these horribly embarassing coiled shades that just uncoil and kinda hug your face. I couldn’t bear to wear them. I’d sooner get in an accident. So it was fun driving home. It’s not like I couldn’t see…it was just that my eyes were ultra-sensitive. So my eye care insurance plan has probably changed every year for the past 5 years or whatever…so I again had to go to a new doctor to get my eye exam (I just picked a doctor of the list of providers). And of course the doctor wants to switch me to a different kind of contact lenses that he prefers. Uh no. I hate that. Just give me what works. Anything else will turn out to be a disaster…But I’m a wuss…so I’m humoring him. I’ll try them for a week until I have to go back for a follow-up. We’ll see. It may last a day before they drive me crazy like the Acuvue advance did last year.

So I’m almost half way through the new Harry Potter. I was pissed that my vision wasn’t good enough to read it when I got home from work today, but it’s better now. I’m a pretty slow reader, but I’m still incredibly worried someone is going to spoil it for me. I really like it so far.

I thought I’d finally post pics of the projects I’ve been working on around the house.

Ya know I can never quite get my hands dry in one go of the standard hand dryer. I always have to hit it a second time….and I don’t have excessively large hands or anything…actually, they are quite dainty…so I think they need to add about 10 more seconds on to it. Someone should write the American Association of Hand-dryers and let me know. Some places lately have those crazy high power hand dryers. They have a specific name, but I can’t think of it right now. You can see them physically blowing the veins on your hand around. It’s kinda gross.

I’ve been on this mad painting binge. I’ve been painting everything I can get my hands on. Shelves, end tables, nightstands…You can paint just about anything. Unfortunately I ended up buying some oil based paint without even noticing. That shit does not wash out with just soap and water. And since I don’t have any mineral spirits (or know what the hell that is..) I just had to throw away the brushes. It’s probably cheaper to buy those $0.25 cheap disposable foam brushes than it is to buy the proper cleaning supplies. Ah well. My bathroom cabinet looks great. All glossy white…now if we can just figure out how to get it back up on the wall - I think I’ll let Mike handle that one.

This weekend I have a big family reunion here in Findlay. It’s my grandparents 65th anniversary. Crazy huh. I wonder if Mike and I will live that long… I’m not thrilled about spending tons of time with the family…but it should be ok. I can only stand so much ya know…

So my life is still completely revolving around the house…I’ve been painting mostly, and also changing out all the crappy cabinet hinges for nicer satin nickel ones. When I lived at the apartment I always thought it would be nice to be able to do projects like this…ugh. I remember I also thought how great it would be to live in a nice quiet neighborhood where I could go for walks and hang out outside…I rarely go outside. And since I park my car in the garage…I get very little sunlight. What’s wrong with me? That’s right. I need to get a puppy to spark my interest in walking and outdoors…see how my brain works.

Our friend Jamie is fostering an adorable little puppy that we want to go see. She’s a beagle/terrier mix. I’ve also been keeping an eye out in the paper for puppies. AKC pups are so expensive though. Right now there are yellow and chocolate lab puppies available, and some jack/parson russell terriers.

Guess we’ll just have to wait and see. Hopefully Makalu and all the other animals won’t be too upset.
